The magazine didn't have any real ads back in the 1950s and 1960s. Instead they nailed big-name advertisers — especially cigarette companies — hard.

Winston's tagline has been much derided by grammarians. Graveyards figured prominently in cigarette parody ads.

The real 1960s Tiparillo ads were very sleazy.

A Breck shampoo ad parody from 1964 featuring, yes, a Ringo Starr illustration.

As someone who remembers the real print ads, I love this one.
