Is anyone else constantly surprised by how Earth-like everything looks? Of course, what else would it look like?

To me, the most surreal thing about the plethora of images being beamed back to Earth from a distant planet is how normal everything appears. As in, if you weren't told this was Mars, you'd just think it was a boring photo of a flat piece of Earth desert.

This photo comes from an image Curiosity took on August 14, 2012 and is part of a 360 degree panorama on 360cities.net. Be sure to to click through and check it out. You can rotate the camera and zoom in and out of the shot, making it the closest you'll probably get to actually looking at Mars with your own eyes.
